With the support of the wider communities of Taranaki and a number of very generous businesses in the province, the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust was able to move all our stored equipment from a 20 foot Hookers container into a new hangar facility at the Base Hospital in 2000. Primarily constructed by Fletcher Construction with the assistance of a number of specialist contractors and a huge contingent of volunteers, the new hangar also has offices, equipment, storage, locker and changing rooms along with incident command, training and meeting facilities. This very valuable community facility not only serves as home for the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust, but also an operational training base for our pilots, crew and administration staff.
